Texas Water Development Board approves $1,033,800 to the City of New Deal (Lubbock County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (July 6, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,033,800, consisting of a $935,000 loan and $98,800 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of New Deal (Lubbock County). The assistance will finance construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The financial assistance approved today could save the City approximately $171,000 over the life of the loan, in addition to the loan forgiveness.

The City will replace approximately 18,000 feet of pipeline and construct a 138,000-gallon storage tank with the financial assistance approved today.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
